Louisiana casinos won $195.5 million in September, up 11.8% from the same month last year, per the state's monthly revenue report published on October 15, 2026 - a broad-based gain that ran through three of the four districts even as sports-betting revenue slipped against a flat handle.

District by district

Louisiana's Lake Charles district led with $69.7 million (+9.4%), where L'Auberge Du Lac casino posted $26.7 million (+10.6%) and Golden Nugget Lake Charles collected $25.1 million (+14.3%); Delta Downs casino slipped 2.2% to $12.2 million. New Orleans reached $50.4 million (+13.8%), lifted by Caesars New Orleans at $25.4 million (+30.4%) - for example, the strongest property-level increase in the Louisiana market - while Treasure Chest fell 3.4% to $11.9 million and Boomtown added 2.6% to $7.3 million. Shreveport/Bossier City grew 15.9% to $47.6 million in casino revenue, led by Margaritaville at $11.9 million (+17.8%) and Live! Casino at $10.5 million (+31.3%), and Baton Rouge's casino district added 10.7% to $22.3 million, helped by a newly landed Bally's Baton Rouge casino at $4.9 million.

Sports betting gave ground

Sports-betting revenue was $45 million, down 7% year over year, on a $405 million handle that edged up 1% - the win rate tightened even as wagering volume held. Adult markets only: professional and college football carry the fall handle, while the Louisiana state high school football champions - and every other prep event - sit outside the legal betting menu by rule. Note that handle and revenue move independently of each other: a one-point drop in hold on a flat handle flows straight into the state's monthly total. The state's own comparison shows the pattern in miniature - September 2025 produced $174.9 million on the same reporting basis, so the casino side, not the sportsbook side, carried this year's growth.

What analysts took from it

Jefferies analyst David Katz wrote that the September gain drove third-quarter growth of 3.5% against an 8.3% comparison, and that Caesars was the only operator to sustain momentum through the quarter (+13.2% at New Orleans), with Boyd's Evangeline Downs the lone positive-growing racetrack. The month also lands in the same reporting season as BetMGM's third-quarter results - a run of regional numbers that investors read district by district. First the state total, then the property lines: in Louisiana's monthly ritual, the district detail is casino coverage's real story, because one reopened venue can move a whole district's percentage.

Industry Context and Analysis

Industry analysis of the report, and why it matters: monthly revenue disclosures are the sector's most-watched data releases, and market coverage suggests analysts treat district-level splits - not the state total - as the signal, because a single reopened property can move a whole district's number.
